The Review
The Samyang 24-70mm f/2.8 is the very first zoom lens in their new line, yet it’s already proving popular with Sony users after positive reviews for both its build quality and optical performance , which has surprised many people due to the cheap price tag, especially when compared to Sony alternatives. Samyang has created a great lens in the 24-70mm f/2.8, a great option for those looking for a kit lens, as it offers great image quality and versatility. The Sony 24-105mm f4 is a popular option, but the Samyang offers sharper images and less distortion. The Sony also weighs less, making it a better choice for those who want to carry their camera all day.
After comparing both lenses in various situations, I found that it really does come down to what you need them for. The Sony 24-105mm f4 is lighter than the Samyang 24-70mm f2.8 but has a slightly narrower field of view at 70 mm (which can be remedied by zooming in). The Samyang’s aperture is also two thirds of a stop faster at f2.8, which makes it more appealing for low-light situations. That being said, the slightly smaller focal range on the Sony may be better suited to you depending on what you plan to use them for.
Image Quality
The image quality is definitely superior on the Samyang, but it’s also significantly less expensive! If you don’t need long focal length zoom and spend a lot of time shooting in low-light, then the Samyang is definitely the better option.
Autofocus
Both lenses have great autofocus, and there isn’t a huge difference between the two.
Image quality
The image quality of the two lenses is incredibly similar. Both lenses produce sharp images with great color reproduction. However, the Samyang 24-70mm f2.8 has a slight advantage in terms of image quality, its sharper overall and has a much nicer colour re-production. The Samyang has a slightly faster aperture at f2.8, which makes it better for low-light photos and videos.
Conclusion
